its the 3rd of ramadhan.. and i begin to question how time flies.. i mean it felt like the 1st day yesterday..
all the ramadhan bazaars this year do not excite me.. we went on this first day at usj4 and i suddenly do not enjoy the crowd, the hustle bustle and even any of the food sold.. we came back with only air tebu and 6 sticks of satay.. tu pun desperate coz twas minutes to maghrib.. n believe it or not that was all we had to break our fast.. and at that moment i vowed that i wud start to cook this ramadhan.. (haha).
4 those hu know me know that i dont cook.. and i guess ive stressed that here more than once.. and when colleagues moan what to cook for that day i just quietly lower my head avoiding the discussion.. but yesterday i was adamant! n its all thanx to a basket of french beans.
4 those hu know me know that im fussy with my vege.. ive only started eating greens when i was in my 20s.. (yes, im one of those spoilt children whom mumdad cudnt force the greens in me..) and eversince that ive started slow.. beginning with lettuce, cucumber, just recently i realised i LOVE SUPERLOVE broccoli.. and more recently i found out carrots are ok.. and yes, ive grown a fondness towards french beans too..
so yesterday went to pasar tani with mumdad since me berbuka at their place. and as mum was choosing the best yam..i saw them.. beautiful shiny perfectly shaped green french beans.. and with that i screamed to myself.. i must cook those beans!!! hahaha..
and so.. todays meal was fried oyster sauce french beans which my husband cooked (because hes a better cook than moi).. plus sweet sour chicken which was my very first attempt! i googled for the recipe but the ingredients needed were just too much.. worcheister sauce, vinegar, bellpeppers, pineapple, etc.. i dont have all that! so rang mum up.. and walaaa! all i need were shallots, garlic, chili paste, tomato sauce, soy sauce, sugar n salt.
i cringed when hubby scooped the chicken. told him he must finish the dish even though its awful or inedible! haha.. but, but.. to my surprise.. it tasted NICe! not bad.. dah la puasa so i didnt get to taste as i cooked. hubby asked how come boleh jadi sedap at the first attempt.. during fasting pulak tu..
well, coz it was cooked with love! ….
